PROFESSIONAL LAND SURVEYOR – PRINCIPAL / OWNERSHIP OPPORTUNITY
An opportunity to lead and ultimately have an ownership interest in an established Connecticut land surveying practice.
Land Survey & Technical Services, Inc., an affiliate of Nathan L. Jacobson & Associates, Inc., is seeking an experienced Connecticut Licensed Land Surveyor to assume a leadership role in our established land surveying operation in Chester, Connecticut.
This is not simply another land surveyor position. We are looking for a professional who is ready to take the next step in their career, lead an established surveying practice (including experienced field crew and office technician), develop client relationships, manage projects and staff, and participate in the future ownership of the business.
The successful candidate will step into an established operation with existing clients, an active backlog of work, survey equipment, technical and administrative resources, and a continuing source of surveying assignments generated through an established civil and environmental engineering practice.
Our work includes municipal infrastructure and engineering projects, boundary and topographic surveys, existing-conditions surveys, construction-related surveying, and assignments for municipalities, State and Federal agencies, private clients, and the general public.

- Work closely with an established civil and environmental engineering firm
- Benefit from an existing client base and continuing backlog of work
- Help shape the future direction and growth of the surveying practice
- Participate in a defined path toward equity ownership
- Build upon an existing business rather than starting a surveying practice from the ground up

- Boundary research, analysis and resolution
- Review and preparation of survey plans
- Land records and deed research
- Survey computations and technical review
- Preparation of proposals and cost estimates
- Project scheduling and coordination of field personnel
- Client communication and project management
- Coordination with civil and environmental engineers

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- Current Connecticut Land Surveyor license
- Substantial professional land surveying experience
- Experience with boundary determination and land records research
- AutoCAD Civil 3D experience
- Strong project-management and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships
- Sound professional judgment and attention to detail
- Ability and desire to lead, mentor and delegate
- An entrepreneurial outlook and interest in ownership and long-term leadership of the surveying practice
Experience managing a survey department, supervising survey personnel, managing clients, preparing proposals, or operating a surveying practice is particularly desirable.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and possess a valid driver’s license.
Compensation & Benefits
We offer:
- Competitive compensation commensurate with experience and responsibilities
- Opportunity for equity ownership
- Full employee benefits
- Established backlog and client base
